Submitting
- Where to submit a CAR
Three routes: beforeUdig (a free site, registration needed, generates a CAR that the council receives), Submitica (a free site, also generates a CAR), or the council's Corridor Access Request form submitted to the council. For information on council water, wastewater or stormwater pipes use the council's GeoHub, because the council does not respond to beforeUdig requests.

Closures and road space
- Road closure application
Yes, specific legal processes apply to authorise a closure. Notify the council at least 60 days before the event with details and a map of the roads, the duration and the date (route and direction of travel for parades, races and similar events), engage a traffic management company for the TMP and the traffic management on the day, and provide evidence of public liability insurance. The council advertises the proposed closure in a local paper at least 42 days before the event and calls for objections, which are considered at the next council meeting. If there are none the closure proceeds, and a second advertisement runs the week of the event. A closure affecting a state highway also needs an application to and approval from NZTA. Advertising costs may be passed on to the organiser.
