Submitting
- Where to submit a CAR
Excavation CARs start with beforeUdig (beforeUdig can lodge the CAR automatically). Non-excavation CARs are made on the Corridor Access website.

- When a CAR is needed
Excavation or physical works in the road reserve need council pre-approval before work starts (utility repairs or installs, a new driveway, closing a road for an event). Non-excavation activities in the corridor also need a CAR, for example concerts, building maintenance, roadside hedge trimming with machinery, cycling events, exhibitions, festivals, fireworks, parades and sporting events.

- Standard accepted
A joint notice on South Wairarapa DC's site (posted 24 October 2025, naming both councils) says the councils would begin accepting NZGTTM-based TMPs from 1 November 2025, and that from 1 July 2026 all CARs must be submitted under NZGTTM, with CoPTTM-based TMPs no longer accepted after that date. Carterton's own roads page still points to CoPTTM, so confirm the current position with the council.
